The Role
Protecting our clients’ data and privacy are key priorities. The Data Privacy Senior Associate is a pivotal role that supports our DPO and Head of Data Privacy and Information Security in the second line to provide pragmatic advice and oversight on all aspects of DP compliance.
This role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced data protection practitioner to work with a high-profile wealth management firm on a 9-month fixed term contract, at a time of fast growth and transformational change. This role would suit an enthusiastic, self-starter who believes in the importance of data privacy, and can influence others to adopt a privacy-first approach.
Responsibilities Include:
•             Support the DPO to carry out their statutory tasks as listed in Article 39, particularly: 
•             Oversee and maintain the firm’s Data Protection Policy and assess the firm’s performance to comply with it.
•             Conduct Legitimate Interest Assessments and Data Protection Impact Assessments and support others to complete these.
•             Using our Privacy Tool (OneTrust) review record of processing entries, and assessments and manage related DP risks
•             Work with the Change Programme and Technology teams to apply DP by Design and Default 
•             Respond to Subject Access Requests and other data protection queries in line with legal requirements.
•             Oversee and report on the data subject rights requests handled by the firm.
•             Provide advice and assess risk during incidents and in relation to planned and current data processing.
•             Advise firm on compliant marketing practices, in line with PECR and firm policy
•             Support business areas to maintain their entries in the Record of Processing activities during change delivery activities.
•             Deliver and design training and guidance on data protection related topics 
•             There is a possibility of some line management or work management of colleagues, as may be defined from time to time.
•             General Senior Associate responsibilities:
•             Act as mentor to more junior peer colleagues providing motivation and empowerment where appropriate.
•             Identify and implement efficiencies to ensure team priorities continue to be met.
•             Demonstrate correct application of business processes to internal/external stakeholders.
•             Present self professionally and knowledgeably with stakeholders – trusted to represent R&C across the business in forums / projects.
•             Challenge the views of others (including more senior members) providing justification / rationale as appropriate.
•             Identify and escalate issues implementing required solutions and assisting more junior peer colleagues in developing solutions.
•             Higher level qualifications such as A Levels or Degree (or equivalents) are essential.
•             A formal data protection qualification is essential.
•             Experience in a business-facing data protection role is essential.
•             Demonstrable interest in and enthusiasm for data protection and data privacy is essential.
•             Communicates clearly and professionally with all stakeholders, including clients, and builds positive relationships. 
•             Excellent administration, planning and organisation skills.
•             Knowledge of data protection law, PECR, and ICO guidance and experience of applying these in practice 
•             Proactive and takes initiative, tenacious and able to hold a position when challenged. 
•             Knowledge of records management practices and experience in this area are highly desirable
•             Analytical with a talent for problem solving
•             Excellent attention to detail.

•             Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
